The Compleat Jazz Drummer, by Joel Rothman. One of five volumes, this massive book is almost 400 pages, and includes the latest concepts in jazz drumming. It’s a compilation of most of Joel Rothman’s previous books on the subject.
On its’ pages are in-depth exercises for every aspect of playing such as two, three, and four-way coordination, breaks, solos, variations for cymbal beats, odd time signatures, and so much more.
This book is a classic and can be found in the library of many music colleges and conservatories– it belongs in the personal library of any serious  player interested in the topic. No other book has ever been written that is so compleat—it shows where jazz drum playing is at and where it’s going..
