This pack is the third in Lincoln Goines’ seven part series Working With the Language of Rhythm: Afro-Cuban and Brazilian Groove Concepts for Bass. This pack teaches you three new Afro-Cuban rhythms: the Songo, the Bomba, and the Timba. In Practice Mode, the examples can be slowed down until they are at a comfortable speed and then, as you become familiar with these grooves, sped back up again to Lincoln’s tempo and beyond! Also, be sure to turn off the bass and use the play-along tracks to improvise and write lines of your own.
Be sure to check out the rest of Lincoln’s series that takes you from the very basics of Afro-Cuban bass playing in Packs 1 and 2, all the way through advanced odd meter synthetic claves in Pack 7.
Here are the lessons that appear in this pack:
- The Basic Songo
- Songo Over a B Flat Blues
- Songo Over the Autumn Leaves Progression
- The Bomba
- The Jazz Bomba
- The Timba Over Ameen’s Groove
