This pack is the seventh in Lincoln Goines’ seven part series Working With the Language of Rhythm: Afro-Cuban and Brazilian Groove Concepts for Bass. This pack teaches you how to apply the Afro-Cuban and Brazilian styles you have been learning to odd times in what Lincoln calls hybrid-synthetic claves. In Practice Mode, the examples can be slowed down until they are at a comfortable speed and then, as you become familiar with these grooves, sped back up again to Lincoln’s tempo and beyond! Also, be sure to turn off the bass and use the play-along tracks to improvise and write lines of your own.
Check out the rest of Lincoln’s series that takes you from the very basics of Afro-Cuban bass playing in Packs 1 and 2, all the way through advanced odd meter synthetic claves in Pack 7.
