Creating a Groove

In this pack, Tom Kennedy explains how he views funk grooves as either on beat or off beat. The six lessons each have a rich example that explores this concept and provides a fun, challenging way to practice it. Recommended for advanced players.

In this pack, Tom Kennedy provides examples of how he approaches straight grooves. By appreciating and understanding both on the beat and off the beat notes and then mixing them together, Tom is able to create a feel that is just right. When practicing this pack, pay particular attention to how Tom plays each note and try to match your sound to his as closely as possible.

Be sure to check out Tom’s other packs where he discusses playing upright on the electric, walking concepts, right and left hand technique, and soloing.
