maiden voyage

Hi Everyone-

This is my first ever blog post. I’m excited to have the opportunity to share thoughts, ideas and some behind the scenes of what is going on in Hudsonland.

The past few weeks have been busy for me. Early in the month I went to the Frankfurt Music Messe-The European version of the NAMM Show times about 5-supersized. There I had meetings morning till nite with various European distributors, dealers and artists. And of course, had plenty of great dinner hangs. We were able to open up distribution in a few countries where we have never been before (or on a small basis)-and this is really exciting to me.

We  have our products available in Poland and very shortly will have our products available in Russia. I love the idea of helping the music community feel a little closer and a little more intimate.

Also at Frankfurt, I was surprised to be asked to receive the MIPA award for the Jojo Mayer dvd. Although Jojo produced it with his partner Marco Tempest, since I was at the Show I was asked to accept the award given to Best Educational Drum product, as chosen by over 100 International music magazines. It was a great awards ceremony followed by a very nice reception.

Then three days after getting home, I was in the studio for 2 1/2 days with our staff and crew for the Keith Carlock dvd filming. And what a great few days that was. I’ll have more on that later.

And this week, we began shipping the new David Garibaldi dvd, “Breaking the Code”. This is David’s first dvd in quite a long time and we are honored and very happy to be able to release it. David has been such a pleasure to work with for the past, maybe 15 years, and we are all very proud of the ground-breaking book we released called “The Code of Funk” and now the DVD that relates it and goes beyond.

Anyway, I have to run. My son is playing his last concert in high school – drums, of course. So check out some clips from The Code, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Rob
