Several top Hudson Music artists—as well as a panel made up of teacher/educators from Hudson’s TIP (Teacher Integration Program)— will be appearing along with many of the world’s top drummers and percussionists at the Percussive Arts Society’s International Convention (PASIC) being held in Indianapolis, IN, November 11-14, 2009.
European master-drummer Benny Greb will present a solo seminar in which he will discuss and demonstrate the groundbreaking “Rhythmic Alphabet” concepts featured in his popular Hudson DVD, The Language Of Drumming.
Drumming icon Tommy Igoe along with New York’s Birdland Big Band will be the featured performers for a PASIC’s Saturday night concert and closing ceremonies.
Igoe’s Groove Essentials DVDs and books have become worldwide best-sellers and his performance is sure to be a highlight of the convention.
Skip Hadden, an early participant and advisory board member of the Hudson TIP Program, will appear as a featured PASIC 2009 clinician on contemporary drumset styles and techniques. Hadden has served on the faculty at the Berklee College of Music since 1982 and has developed and taught courses in Jazz, Funk, Rock, Fusion and World drumming.
A group of leading educators who are also administrators and advisors in Hudson Music’s Teacher Integration Program (TIP) will participate in a special panel discussion on The Use of New Media/Technology in Drum Set Teaching and Practice, titled “Technology in Teaching”.
Moderated by PAS drumset committee chairman, Mike Sekelsky, and including Tommy Igoe, Benny Greb, Dom Famularo, Donny Greundler, John Favicchia, Joe Bergamini and Mike Sorrentino, the experts will discuss their use of DVD, Internet, computers, recording, and other modern technologies, to assist teachers and students in the drum set teaching/practice studio.
