Following an initial round of judging by respected drummers from a variety of styles, twelve finalists will be invited to compete at the Percussive Arts Society (PASIC) this November in Indianapolis. Following the final round of competition, six winners will be selected and each will receive a $1,000 cash prize.

The first round of competition will be judged by some of the largest names in the drumming community. Ndugu Chancler, David Garibaldi, Tommy Igoe will judge the R&B/Funk/Gospel category; Terri Lyne Carrington, Peter Erskine, Jeff Hamilton and Ed Soph will judge the Jazz category; and Gregg Bissonette, Jimmy Branly, Walfredo Reyes Jr., and Bobby Sanabria will judge the Brazilian/Afro-Cuban/African category.
