Hudson Music is proud to announce the addition of Michael Sekelsky to the Teacher Integration Program Advisory Board.Â
Dr. Michael Sekelsky has served as Percussion Instructor and Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Central Missouri since 1984, where he also serves as the coordinator for the Wind/Percussion division. He is currently Drum Set Committee, chair for the Percussive Arts Society, on the Hudson Music TIP Advisory Board, and an educational endorser for Sabian Cymbals and Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets.
His activities in the Midwest and Kansas City region include frequent jazz festival rhythm section adjudication, clinics, such as the 2011 MO/KS Day of Percussion drum set clinic, Mid-Missouri Percussion Arts Trophy Competition drum set/multiple percussion master class clinician, and MMPAT ensemble director, arranger, and drum set soloist.  He has served as Missouri’s PAS Chapter President and Vice-President, continuing to serve as the chapter webmaster.  Sekelsky has performed regularly with the Boulevard Big Band, the Little Boulevard Band, the Trilogy Big Band, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, the Jim Gai Trio, and with a variety of UCM guest artists, including David Samuels, Arthur Lipner, Roger Williams, and the Ink Spots. His college and high school private students achieve regular success as members of the Missouri All-State Jazz Band and Missouri All-Collegiate Jazz Band.
As an educator, Dr. Sekelsky utilizes technology as a teaching/learning tool. Supplements to the UCM percussion studio include: a laptop with files of play along recordings and DVD trailers, wide screen television for DVD playback/play along and webcast lessons, a complete sound system with stereo speakers, CD, and mp3 playback capability, an Edirol digital audio recorder, a Zoom HD video recorder, the Hudson OnDemand Digital Downloads software system, and a variety of both stand alone and digital metronome options.
