Hit Like a Girl 2014 Winners

The Hit Like a Girl Contest began in 2012 as a way to celebrate female drummers of all ages and ability levels and encourage the growth of the female drumming community. Supported by the world’s top drummers and drum companies, the project has received hundreds of video entries from girls and women in 42 countries as well as more than 4,000,000 web impressions and tens of thousands of online votes and comments.

The 2014 Hit Like a Girl Contest was expanded in many exciting ways. In addition to increased support from Guitar Center, GoPro, Zildjian and the Percussive Arts Society, contest organizers invited a wider range of drum, percussion, electronics, accessory and media companies to participate in the event. The 2014 contest also featured the involvement of top female drum artist/judges, such as Jessica Bowen, drummer of popular punk-pop band The Summer Set, who was also named the Hit Like a Girl spokesperson for the year. Other celebrity judges included: Sheila E, Hannah Ford, Emmanuelle Caplette, Meytal Cohen, Allison Miller, Dawn Richardson, Didi Negron, Senri Kawaguchi, Cherisse Osei, Nia Lovelis, Val Sepulveda and Alexey Poblete.
