This is a staple for anyone looking to learn jazz drums. I don't care whether you play jazz or plan to play it professionally (I'm a metal guy myself). The skill you pick up from mastering this book is worth the purchase. In this book, John Riley covers comping, waltz, uptempo, improvising, trading solos, brushes etc. You will learn to read music. The comp exercises are designed to introduce most drumming movements in jazz. I recommend training yourself to be able to play them.
