WORLD’S GREATEST DRUMMER

Buddy Rich – a household name amongst both drummers and non-drummers alike – was considered by many to be the greatest drummer of all time. From his early vaudeville act, “Traps the Drum Wonder” through to his own bands that toured extensively during the 1960s and 70s, Buddy Rich was a lifelong performer and entertainer.

Some of Buddy’s most well-known performances were of  his West Side Story medley and his numerous appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, the Mike Douglas Show, the Dick Cavett Show and the Merv Griffin Show. In the early 1980’s, Buddy found a new audience with an appearance that lives on today – his hilarious and entertaining “drum battle” with Animal, on The Muppet Show.

Buddy Rich dies on April 2, 1987, and was eulogized at his funeral by long-time friend and music icon, Frank Sinatra.

Hudson Music is proud to present a selection of videos and books featuring the World’s Greatest Drummer, Buddy Rich.
