Books Purchased from the HudsonMusic.com Website

Books purchased from this website, can be viewed in any of our free apps for Apple iOS and Apple Mac and Windows computers.

To View purchased books:

  • Open the Hudson Music Bookstore app
  • Tap the “person” shaped icon in the upper right-hand corner of the catalog screen.
  • When prompted, enter your login and password (this is the email address you used at checkout, and the password you created at checkout).
  • Once logged in, you will see the purchased books become available for download and viewing within the app.

Books Purchased from within the Hudson Music Bookstore App for iOS (iPad & iPhone)

Books purchases from within the Hudson Music Bookstore App for iOS are processed by your existing Apple ID. These are the same accounts you use to make purchases from iTunes or other in-app purchases on your devices.

Once you make the purchase from within the app on your Apple device, the book will become available for viewing instantly on that device, within the app. You will be able to view the purchased book on your other iOS devices by using your Apple ID and restoring purchases when promoted from within the Hudson Music Bookstore app.

Please note – books purchased using Apple IDs through in-app purchase in the Hudson Music Bookstore app can only be viewed on that system’s devices. Apple ID purchases can only be viewed on devices running iOS.

For the most flexibility in content access, we suggest purchasing books through HudsonMusic.com – which allows access on all devices.

Book Purchase Options

There are two ways to digital purchase books from Hudson Music:

  • In-app purchase via our iOS apps
  • Purchase through our webstore, HudsonMusic.com

iTunes in-app Purchases

Books purchased through iOS apps are delivered and managed by Apple (iOS and iTunes). In app purchases available through Apple stores provide an easy and convenient method of purchasing books. Books purchased through in-app purchase using iTunes will be available for viewing on any iOS device using your Apple ID.

  • Books purchased through the iTunes store will only be available for viewing on devices running iOS. You will not be able to view these purchases on Desktop reader apps.

Webstore Purchases

Books purchased through our webstore offer the most flexible options for viewing. Using your Hudson Music Bookstore ID, you will be able to access and view purchased books in our iOS and Desktop Reader applications. During your first purchase and checkout at HudsonMusic.com, you will create a user account and password which you will be able to use across multiple platforms and devices in order to download and view your purchases.

Your Digital License

Digital Products are offered with a single-user license, and may not be shared by more than one person or user – in other words, each person is required to purchase his or her own books for use. Each user/customer is permitted to download and access their purchased Digital Products on three (3) devices at one time. When you purchase access to the Digital Products you are purchasing a non-transferable, non-exclusive right to access the information. You may not publish or share the Digital Products or your login details with anyone else.  User accounts found to be in violation of this terms of use will be suspended and access to Digital Products will be revoked immediately.

Common Questions

On my Mac, when I try to install the Desktop Reader software, I get a message that the program can not be installed because it is from an unknown developer

To install the desktop reader application on certain Macintosh Operating System versions, locate the Hudson Music Bookstore installer wherever you downloaded it to your computer, right-click (or control-click) it and select “open”. You will be asked to confirm that you’d like to install, please choose “Open”. The software will then install with no problems.

After installation, if it’s the first time running the Hudson Book Reader application, you might need to go to your applications folder, right click it and choose open. Same overzealous security settings that prevent the app from installing sometimes affect it’s first-time running as well.

When I try to login to the reader app to view my books, I get the message “Sorry, you have exceeded the maximum number of devices allowed…”

Each user/customer is permitted to download and access their purchased Digital Products on three (3) devices at one time. If you need to remove a device in order to grant access to another, visit your profile page where you will find a listing of authorized devices. From there, you can remove any unused devices in order to allow access to a different device.

Can I print my digital eBooks?

Our books are available in digital format for Mac, Windows and iOS devices. Printing for books is not available – if physical copies are your preference, we recommend our selection of traditional print books, also available at HudsonMusic.com.

My book should have audio, where is it?

With any of our digital eBooks that feature audio, you simply need to tap a given stave of notation, and audio playback will begin, right within the app. No separate files or purchases are required. Most available audio examples are marked on the page either with an existing icon (such as a CD icon) or a small play button (usually on full-chart pages).

Can I copy the audio to my computer/phone/device or burn to a CD?

Our audio files are available exclusively from within the reader apps for convenience and organization, they are not available to be copied to computers, devices, or other media outside the book.

Can I share my books with others?

I purchased a book in the Hudson Music Bookstore iPad app, and can not view it in the desktop reader.

Books purchased in the Hudson Music Bookstore apps using in-app purchase can not be accessed from within the Desktop Reader. Books purchased on Apple iOS devices using using in-app purchase will only be accessible on iOS devices using your Apple ID. This is a restriction due to Apple ID accounts beyond our control.

I want to be able to view my books on my laptop or my mobile device.

For customers wanting the most flexible content viewing options, we recommend purchasing books from this website, HudsonMusic.com. Books purchased through this webstore will be accessible in any of our reader apps – for iOS, and standard computers. In-app purchases made through our iOS apps offer a convenient method of purchase while using your existing Apple ID accounts, but are less flexible in terms of viewing options.

Books purchased through the Hudson Music Bookstore can be viewed through one of our free book reader apps. Our reader apps are available for iOS devices, Mac OSX and Windows “desktop” readers.

While our apps are compatible with many devices and computers running the operating systems listed above, for the best user experience we recommend the following as a minimum:

Apple iOS

  • Requires iOS 5.1.1 or later.
  • Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
  • iPhone 5 or newer recommended
  • iPad 2 or newer recommended.
  • An Apple ID and iTunes Store account.
  • Internet connection to purchase and download books, and to access embedded media (audio and video).

Mac OSX

  • Requires OSX version 10.8 or later.
  • Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, Mac Pro, iMac, Mac Mini or other compatible machine.
  • Intel Core i5 processor or faster recommended.
  • Requires Adobe AIR to be installed (a free application – will be installed as part of the app installation).
  • 2 GB or more of RAM memory.
  • 250MB available hard disk space (per book).
  • Internet connection to purchase and download books, and to access embedded media (audio and video).

Windows

  • Requires Windows version 7 or later.
  • Compatible desktop or laptop computer.
  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 250MB available hard disk space (per book)
  • Internet connection to purchase and download books, and to access embedded media (audio and video).

I purchased the wrong book – can you issue a refund or exchange?

The nature of digital goods does not allow for refunds or exchanges – once the book is delivered, “returning” it is not an option. No refunds or exchanges are available on purchases made through the Hudson Music Bookstore apps for iOS. If you’ve purchased the incorrect books via in-app purchase using your AppleID, please contact us with more information on your situation.

Can I get a refund?

The nature of digital goods does not allow for refunds or exchanges – once the book is delivered, “returning” it is not an option. Therefore, no refunds or exchanges are available on purchases made through the Hudson Music Bookstore apps for iOS or through HudsonMusic.com.

I purchased books but am not able to log in to the reader app.

Your existing Apple ID, or the account you created at checkout on HudsonMusic.com are what are needed to login or access purchased books. Please click here for an explanation on how to log in to the reader apps to access purchased books.

I forgot my password and am not able to log in to the reader app to access my books.

If you purchased your books through HudsonMusic.com, please click here to reset your password. If you purchased your books through the HudsonMusic Bookstore app for iOS or Android using in-app purchasing, you will need to reset your password with Apple.

I have purchased a book through the Hudson Music Bookstore app for Apple/Android, but it will not download. What should I do.

Please contact us through out support system and we will assist you. Please do not “repurchase” the book in question through another channel – we will be unable to offer refunds on duplicate purchases through different channels!

I am unable to install your app on my mobile device/tablet/laptop/desktop computer.
